How To Send Bitcoin Using Your iOS Bitcoin Wallet

Before learning how to send Bitcoin using the app on an iOS device, be sure to go over our Tips and Advice Page as well as our What is a Digital Wallet Pageand How To Create a Digital Wallet on Your iOS Device.

In this section, we are going to go over send Bitcoin from the app that you downloaded on your phone. Keep in mind, you have to have Bitcoin in that wallet to be able to send it! If you don't already have Bitcoin in your wallet, check out How to Receive Bitcoin Using Your iOS Bitcoin Wallet. Or if you have a receipt from one of our Bitcoin ATMs, check out How to Import Bitcoin into Your iOS Bitcoin Wallet.

Step 1:

Open your wallet on your iOS device and click on the button with the upward facing arrow on the bottom left of your screen.

Step 2:

Next, select the QR Code symbol on the top right of your screen. This will take you to your phone's camera.

Step 3:

Once on camera page, locate the person or business QR code that you are trying to send to. The QR code you are scanning is their public address and is where you will want to send your Bitcoin.

To learn more about what the QR code is and what a public address is, go to the What is a Digital Wallet Page.

Step 4:

If you have scanned the QR code correctly the app will take you back to the last screen you were in. There, you should see the "To" field populate with the address you just scanned (see picture below).

You can also enter the address in the "To" field manually if there is not a QR code present to scan. However BE CAREFUL... If you mistype the address and then hit continue to send Bitcoin you run the risk of sending it to the wrong place. And there is no way to recover the Bitcoin once you send it.

Step 5:

Now that the address is entered correctly in the "To" field, you will want to enter the EXACT AMOUNT of Bitcoin in the "BTC" field. Once you enter the Bitcoin amount you would like to send, hit Continue.

Note: Be sure to enter the exact Bitcoin amount that the person or business is asking for. NOT the USD amount. Bitcoin is constantly changing in value so you will want to make sure you send the Bitcoin amount that was requested.

Finished - Next Steps:

Congrats! You have successfully sent Bitcoin.

Now that you have learned how to send Bitcoin using the app, click on the buttons below to learn how to receive bitcoin, or how to back up your new wallet,...

Note: We HIGHLY RECOMMEND backing up your wallet if you have not already. If for some reason you lose your phone without backing up your wallet you risk losing all the Bitcoin you have stored/imported there.
